Two weeks ago we did a poll to choose a data to record a video for the IEEE gold around the world website. The poll was closed on 16th of April and the result is that on 23th  of April at 13:00 we will meet in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32, Milano, in front of the Politecnico di Milano, to record the video for IEEE gold around the world website.

All the i3Poli and IEEE members are invited to take part to this event. If you are not an i3Poli member but you wanna meet us you can join this event too!

We announce that on 24 of April in room I.0.1 of Politecnico di Milano we will attend the Jaunty install fest.

The even is organized by i3Poli and POuL.

Jaunty is the new release of the Ubuntu operating system.

Ubuntu, (pronounced /u’bun.tu/, or “Oo-boon-too”), is a computer operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux. Ubuntu’s goals include providing an up-to-date, stable operating system for the average user, with a strong focus on usability and ease of installation. Ubuntu has been rated as the most popular Linux distribution for the desktop, claiming approximately 30% of desktop Linux installations in 2007.^[2]

This release party is a meeting to help other engineers and other people in installing ubuntu and discover its features since Linux is very used in many engineering fields.

This website is under construction and its content and view will change in the following days.

3rd april meeting report:

-) Synesis Forum:
All the work has been done. We just have to create a doodle pool to give our availability to stay at the desk.

-) IEEE 125th celebration party:
The schedule of the talks has been done and will be posted here later. The leaflet of the event will be completed as soon as possible by Vincenzo, using the background proposed by Stefano. A small black and white version of the leaflet will be created later, to print it on a larger scale. We will use about 400€ of our fund to print the big color leaflet, 90€ for the coffee break and the rest to print the black and white leaflets.
Our fund is 500€.

-) Ubuntu release party:
On the 24th of April there will be a party on the occasion of the release of the new Ubuntu 9.04 linux distribution. For the leaflet, we will use the picture chosen by Vincenzo and add on it: “distribuzione linux facile da usare – presentazione e installazione” Ubuntu leaflet deadline: 8th April

-) We will switch the mailing lists to google groups.

-) We decided to switch to wordpress for our website, because it’s easier to manage than drupal, that is installed in the current version. At the beginning we will maintain both drupal and wordpress and we will
switch to wordpress later. Wordpress will let us integrate a calendar synchronized with google groups.

-) We changed our motto to : “Promoting engineering at Politecnico di Milano”.

-) We should use Politecnico’s newsletter politamtam to inform all the student about our activities.

-) During 125th celebration party we will try to get at least 30 signs of new and old i3poli members, to be recognized as an association by Politecnico, in order to obtain funds for our activities.

-) We will create a doodle pool to choose the day (between the 20th and the 30th of April) during which we will make a movie at Politecnico to be appended to this video:

-) Hydra issue:
articles will be published aperiodically as posts on the new wordpress website, without the old template, which could be used to create a journal to join a certain number of articles. This way it’s easier to write and immediately publish an article by anybody.

Organizzazione IEEE 125°:
sono stati spesi 218€ per i manifesti del 125°, 264€ saranno spesi per il servizio catering, restano massimo 18€ per comprare altro cibo/bevande al supermercato. Martedì 12 alle ore 18.00 ci troviamo al DEI per andare a fare la spesa. Bisogna avvisare la portineria del DEI per preparare i tavolini per il catering.
Lunedì 11, invece, bisogna appendere i manifesti in tutto il campus.
Stiamo preparando le slide per la presentazione di: Hydra, Fsoc, Neomeeting, ubuntu 9.04 party, cambio mailing list e il nuovo sito web.
Bisogna comunicare l’evento agli studenti del politecnico per email e agli iscritti a IEEE per mezzo di Samiee, in italiano e in inglese.
